A Rockin' and Wavin' Birthday Week
/I definitely don't feel older. In fact, I still feel 20 at heart, but this past Sunday (Father's Day to be exact), my twin and I celebrated our 27th birthday. I've mixed feelings about this as we are slowly creeping closer to the big ol' 3-0. However, we're still a few years off and I'm doing my best to soak in my 20s for as long as I can by doing things I've never done before.
Like, for instance, attending a rock concert with J. Traditionally, gifts for a couple's first year wedding anniversary are made of paper. In keeping with that tradition, I gifted J tickets to see one of his favorite rock bands in concert! That rock band happened to be Metallica.
This past week we attended their long-awaited show at the Alamodome, and, all I can say was that it took a day or two for my hearing to come back fully. :P But don't let that fool you, we absolutely LOVED it and had such a blast. I can't believe I'm saying that, since I'm probably the last person you'd expect to attend a rock concert, but it's true. The best part was that I know this was one of J's life-long bucket list items, so I'm so glad we were able to cross it off together.
For our birthday weekend (and Father's Day) we headed to the lake house for fun family time in the absolutely scorching Texas weather. Nothing that cold beers and cold pools can't fix, though!
I'm so glad we got to celebrate our birthday with my favorite people in the world!

I seriously love this pic of J and our niece. Check out the attitude she's throwing at the camera. #priceless
Instead of a birthday cake this year, I suggested making milkshakes and I'm so glad I did. It was a fun, and delicious "cheat item"... I mean dessert! Hey, it was my birthday. I can scarf down a milkshake if I want to. If you follow me on Snapchat (username is samanthalighty), then you saw the deliciousness in the making.
Why do birthdays, and really days, in general, fly by so quickly all of a sudden? Can't wait to see what my 27th year holds.
