A Summer Soirée

My parents hosted a fantastic party weekend for family and friends in Horseshoe Bay. Although J and I didn't go up until Saturday afternoon, they had events and parties beginning Friday morning.

Saturday evening they arranged for a cocktail hour boat cruise around the lake followed by dinner in the Captain's Room at the Yacht Club. Unfortunately, a rain storm had ventured it's way into the area right around when the boat cruise was suppose to take off. The wind was too strong, so the boat had to stay at the pier. Regardless, we still had a great time.

Since we're smack-dab in the middle of summer in Texas and the boat cruise was going to be outside, I opted for a light sundress. This is my new favorite "go-to" dress that I found at White House, Black Market. I'm so happy that this store now offers petite sizing! Unfortunately, there's not a huge selection in store, so I had to order my size online. Still ended up being fine by me. I was able to go through Ebates to purchase and earn cash back. Win, win!.

It took me a bit to decide on what shoes and accessories to wear with it since the dress goes with everything! The best part is that each accessory and shoe totally recreates the outfit. I paired it with nude strap kitten heals and a single Swarovski crystal drop for a more subdued look. I also tried it with a pair of super cute, bright pink pumps that really punched up the color. I had a chunky coral necklace that I was originally going to wear with the blue wedges before my older sister offered me this white Kendra Scott I finally settled on. Moral of the story: navy is the new "black".
