Memories Made During Memorial Day Weekend
/This Memorial Day Weekend, J and I headed to my parents' lake house to officially kick off the summer season. J and I have been looking forward to this weekend for a while. We haven't been up to the lake house since the beginning of the year, so we were itching for some sunbathing, wave running riding, and boat cruising. Plus, Luna loves getting to swim in the pool with her BFF and our nephew, Sammy.
Friday night we drove up and made it in around dinner time. My parents, Nana, older sister, brother-in-law and their kids were all waiting for us when we arrived. For dinner, we tried this new Pho restaurant that had just opened up on the main street called Simply Pho. The food was delicious, and for a small-town restaurant, the atmosphere is nice.
I forgot to take a picture of our meals, but J got a big ol' bowl of pho and I chowed down on Lo Mein. Have you ever had pho? I'm not a huge soup fan, but the flavors were warm and hardy without being an overwhelming dish.
Saturday, we spent most of the day around the pool, with a quick break for lunch at The Yacht Club. That night the boys grilled burgers.
I love long weekend because Sundays feel like Saturdays! Sunday morning, I woke up, did a few Blogilates videos to kick-start my metabolism for the day, and then parked my booty by the pool. Ah, just how I wanted to spend the long holiday...
I got this cute bikini from Cupshe.com! Right now they are having a massive sale, so hurry to take advantage of it. It ends tomorrow (May 31).
Check out how adorable our niece looked for her first pool experience!
That evening is when all the excitement began as a major thunderstorm rolled into town.
We spent the rest of the evening and night out on the patio watching the lightning and rain while swapping stories, laughing and singing along to John Denver songs thanks to my older sister's desire to hear "Rocky Mountain High".
Unfortunately, we all headed back Memorial Day (Monday) afternoon, but not before enjoying Nana's delicious, homemade cannelloni complete with meat sauce, "Nana Bread", and Caesar salad. Dear goodness she makes the best food!
I can't wait to learn how to make her cannelloni and lasagna. Unfortunately, I won't be sharing those recipes on the blog since they are "family secrets".
Did I mention that I put on make-up only once this entire weekend?! So glorious not having to worry about that. Another thing I love about the lake house. My skin got nothing but Vitamin D and SPF.
It's so hard to leave the lake, especially after such a fun weekend with family. Luckily, twin sis's and my birthday is on Father's Day so we are all going back up to celebrate the events that weekend.
Just. A few. More. Weeks....
