My Favorite Skincare Products
/Your skin is one of the most important organs on your body! It protects your inner organs, helps regulate your body temperature, and contributes to your first impression.
I'm lucky to come from a family of women with amazing skin. My Nana, who will be turning the big 9-0 later this year (sorry Nana!), often gets mistaken for being 30 years younger. She looks fantastic, along with my mother and other ladies of the bloodline.
As annoying as it is to be carded when ordering a drink out or asked if old enough to sit in the emergency exit row on an airplane (Yes, that actually happened to me), I'm blessed that my skin looks so young and vibrant to cause people to do a double-take.
If you've been reading this blog for a while, you know that I do NOT like spending a lot of money on anything. It pains me to pay full price for items. It also pains me to pay outrageous amounts of money on products I can get at the drugstore that work just as well those you can find in department stores.
My skincare routine isn't fancy, nor is it complex which helps me stay consistent. I use these products every day and make it a point to never go to bed with a clean face. In fact, I heard that your skin ages a few years every time you sleep with make up on. NO THANKS!
1. Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner
For years I used Olay Facial Toner, but it was harsh on my face and the smell was like putting Vodka on my face since it was alcohol-based. I decided to look for something at the grocery store and found this alcohol-free toner by Neutrogena. The brand has always been good to my skin so I was comfortable purchasing knowing it would be gentle on my face. It also smells a whole lot better!
2. Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Make Up Remover
Again, I used Clinique Rinse-Off Eye Makeup Solvent ($30) remover for years before switching to this one. I wanted something cheaper since I was running thru it often, and, again, trusted Neutrogena to be gentle on my eyes. The one downside I do have about it is that it is a tad "greasy", so I do rinse my eyes after using. At the end of the day, it does just as good a job as Clinique's did for way cheaper.
3. Neutrogena Rapid Clear Foaming Scrub
I love this face scrub. It has micro-beads that help remove dead skin and dirt from my face leaving my skin feeling smooth and hydrated after I wash. It also has an energizing smell which helps me "wake up".
4. Olay Complete Normal All day Moisturizer with Sunscreen
After I use the toner and eye make up remover, I always "seal" my skin with a moisturizer with sunscreen for the day. I began using Olay moisturizer when I found out my Nana does. If she has been using this for years and looks as amazing as she does, then you best believe I'm going to use it, too! No need for those expensive anti-aging creams or collagen-infused moisturizers.
5. Clinique Turnaround Overnight Revitalizing Moisturizer
I use this cream at night to repair my skin after the wear-and-tear of the sun and make-up throughout the day. I got this as a sample in a "gift" promotion one time and love it! Pictured above is the small sample size, however, the normal size is 1.07 oz. and should last you a while since you shouldn't be packing it on when applying.
