Staycation at the La Cantera Resort & Spa
/For our first wedding anniversary J and I decided to spend a day and evening at the hotel where we had our wedding reception: The La Cantera Resort & Spa. Last year at this time, the hotel was undergoing renovations, and although the ballrooms, lobby, and some new restaurants were open a lot of the amazing features like the adult pool, spa, and the majority of the guest rooms had yet to be finished.
Going back this year we got to take advantage of all the new, beautiful, and luxurious things La Cantera has to offer guests.
After we checked in on Saturday we headed straight to the adults only pool located in a secluded spot overlooking the gorgeous Hill Country. Not only was the view from the pool absolutely stunning, but the staff was great, the pool water was warm, and the music was on point. It didn't take us long to get into "vacation mode".
When we collected our towels, one of the staff members asked us if it was our first time at the hotel. We proceeded to tell her that it was our wedding anniversary and that we had our reception at the hotel last year. After getting settled at our lawn chairs, we were brought complimentary champagne by the staff as a congratulatory gift! We thought that was a nice touch.
After too many drinks, we headed up to the room to get ready for dinner at Signature, Inspired by Chef Andrew Weissman.
The restaurant is located where the old golf academy used to be, across from The Shops at La Cantera, so we had to take a quick shuttle ride there. The restaurant was absolutely stunning! We sat in a room that looked out over the driving range. The doors were opened to allow the nice spring air in. It was perfect.
For an appetizer we devoured 24 Karat Gold Risotto. Guys- you can eat GOLD! Boy does it taste nice...
J got the Signature Waygu Burger, and I have to say, this was by far the best burger I've had in my life. FANTASTIC!
I ordered the Seafood Gnocchi which I could happily eat every day for the rest of my life if I had to.
We absolutely loved our quick "staycation" at La Cantera and will, no doubt, be back to do it again. Everything about our experience made us feel like we were on an amazing getaway, but the best part is that we didn't have to go far for it at all.
